08/22/2021 Press Release Solidarity with the Afghan people

What is currently unfolding in Afghanistan is a human tragedy of terrible proportions. And – she was predictable. The WAZ reported on 18.08. citing a social worker in Kabul that the Afghan women do not believe the Taliban in their alleged sudden change of heart - on the contrary, they fear that they are no longer allowed to work, and that all women and girls from the age of 12 who do not yet have a husband to be forced into marriage. Courageous women are already protesting against this oppression in Kabul. You have our full support. But what are the governments of Europe doing? "When the last Bundeswehr soldiers left the country at the end of June, more than 20,000 liters of beer, wine and sparkling wine as well as a 27-ton memorial stone were taken to safety," reported the organization Pro Asyl. And the people?

The images are etched in our consciousness: people clinging to planes taking off and falling to their deaths, desperate mothers throwing their babies over a barbed wire fence to the soldiers in the hope that they will be rescued – in the face of these human dramas, the attitude is the one Our government's cynicism can hardly be surpassed: on August 5, Interior Minister Seehofer, together with his counterparts from Austria, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece, wrote a fire letter to the European Commission, calling on them to push for a "return partnership" with Afghanistan ' so that further deportations of Afghan citizens can take place quickly! The fact that a few of the former Afghan Bundeswehr employees - so-called "local staff" - are finally being flown out together with German citizens shows that politicians have to take the mood of the population into account so shortly before the elections. But what about those who don't make it to the airport? What will become of the more than 1,000 people who were practically deported to their deaths in Afghanistan until July?

CDU chancellor candidate Laschet's only concern in this situation: "2015 must not be repeated"! What was 2015? Under pressure from the population, Chancellor Merkel decided at the time to unilaterally terminate the Dublin Agreement and take in almost a million refugees – mainly from Syria – in Germany. But in the same year, the European governments tightened their policy of isolation: Frontex was upgraded in terms of personnel and technology, agreements with Turkey and Libya – resulting in thousands of drowned people in the Mediterranean, illegal pushbacks, massive intimidation and the criminalization of sea rescuers.

All this in a Europe that is supposedly committed to the Charter of Human Rights! This Europe now wants the refugees to be taken in by Afghanistian neighboring countries. What cynicism - precisely in countries where Sharia law already applies, such as Iran or Pakistan, are the refugees fleeing the Taliban supposed to find refuge? That is pure misanthropy!

Many refugees complain that their reasons for fleeing are not really heard, let alone that they are believed to have fled their home countries at risk of their lives. This is the case of Alassa Mfouapon, where the reasons for the rejection of his asylum application are cynical about his “allegedly drowned son” and his credibility is denied, as are two Colombian trade unionists who were threatened with death by paramilitary gangs, to name just two examples the abundance of asylum rejections of the last few days. But isn't it rather not very credible that one of the most effective foreign secret services in the world, which also works well with many other secret services, should have remained hidden about the conditions prevailing in these countries? According to surveys, two-thirds of the population in Germany are in favor of people who are being persecuted in Afghanistan finding protection in Germany. Mr. Seehofer, follow the example of your electorate, who, unlike you, uphold the virtue of international solidarity! Anyone who operates such an inhumane refugee policy must resign.
