Refugee drama on the Polish-Belarusian border: Lukashenko and the EU are to be accused!

Horrifying dramas are unfolding on the Polish-Belarusian border - people without water and food, in the cold, trapped between beating military men on both sides. Refugees, exploited by the rulers for their power-political goals.
On the one hand Lukashenko, a potentate who wants to blackmail and parade the EU. On the other hand, the EU countries, which are thinking of even higher walls and even tougher sanctions. "We need fences and we probably also need walls," said Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) last Tuesday in Brussels. And Foreign Minister Maas from the SPD assured that Germany would under no circumstances take in the refugees. They all act as if Lukashenko was the cause of the flight – when he is just a pathetic war profiteer who shamelessly exploits the misery of the people. Last but not least, the real reasons for fleeing lie in the politics of the EU, in the plundering of the home countries, in war, in the destruction of livelihoods that are sacrificed to the unrestrained pursuit of profit and power and merciless imperialist competition. People flee out of sheer desperation and of course they grasp at every straw – Lukashenko knows that very well and calculates with it. And the EU governments, in turn, know very well that no wall in the world can stop people fleeing if they are desperate enough. Where are the expected streams of an estimated 200 million environmental refugees who are in danger of falling victim to the wanton destruction of the planet?
The Friends of Refugee Solidarity demands:
Open the borders! Fight the causes of flight, not the refugees! Stop using them as pawns in your greedy poker for power and money!
For a right to flee on an anti-fascist basis!
